Knoepfel is June Employee of the MonthCaptain Donnie Knoepfel has been recognized as the June Employee of the Month by the City of Columbia. Donnie has been employed with Columbia Fire & Rescue since 2000 and was promoted to captain in 2013. He is a rope technician and holds numerous certificates from the state fire school and the Tennessee Commission on Firefighting. Donnie sets a high standard for his crew and they reflect that leadership effectiveness to the rest of the department.

Donnie also heads up the child car safety seat installation projects, which requires excellent communication skills as he establishes great public relations interacting with our citizens. Other responsibilities include serving as quality control for Columbia Fire & Rescue. He ensures our reports are accurate in order to maintain the department’s current ISO rating of 1. This takes numerous hours from his daily duties, but he still expertly manages his crew and other responsibilities.

An important project for Donnie is the new training center being constructed behind Fire Station No. 2. Donnie is working to find the right equipment at a low cost to outfit the training center, which is especially challenging during the current COVID-19 crisis. The training center will help cut the city’s costs by allowing more in-house training.

Congratulations and job well done, Captain Donnie Knoepfel! Thank you for your commitment to the City of Columbia and its citizens. We appreciate your service.
