Columbia Fire & Rescue (CFR) is the premiere fire department in the State of Tennessee. CFR maintains a Class 1 rating from the National Insurance Services Office (ISO). At the time CFR received this honor, they were the only fire department in the State of Tennessee with this distinction. This Class 1 rating provides many benefits, including an incentive for recruiting businesses to Columbia by offering an opportunity for lower insurance rates. These benefits are possible because of the many hours of hard work by CFR personnel and city leaders.

“Continuing a legacy of Exceeding Expectations”

With its humble beginnings as a volunteer service, Columbia Fire & Rescue has spent the last 150 years creating a legacy of service that continues today. CFR currently serves over 38,000 residents in a 30-square mile area. Columbia firefighters respond to over 4,000 calls a year for all types of emergencies. These emergency responses are serviced out of 5 stations that house 3 ladder trucks, 3 engine companies, 1 medical rescue unit, 2 rescue boats, and a swiftwater boat.

However, one of the most important efforts of CFR is the Community Risk Reduction program. This program empowers the public with knowledge and assets to reduce the potential of hazards that cause the loss of life and property. Our goal is to help others live in a city free from risks and hazards while they fulfill happy and productive lives. As we continue to grow, we look forward to serving our citizens with professional care and compassion.

Firefighters Park

In honor of Columbia Fire & Rescue's 150th anniversary in 2018, the new Columbia Firefighters Park was dedicated on September 11, 2018. It's located next to Fire Station No. 1 at 1000 South Garden Street, at the gateway into the Columbia Arts District. Once all phases of the park are completed, it will include a central gathering square with custom engraved bricks, three flagpoles, a gazebo, memorial plaques, a firefighter statue, benches, and landscaping.

If you would like to become a lasting part of the park and show your support, you can purchase a custom engraved brick for $100. Download the ORDER FORM HERE.
