City of Columbia Website Has New Look

City of Columbia Website

The City of Columbia is pleased to have launched a newly designed website to better serve its citizens utilizing CivicPlus, a professional website company well-versed in government services. The goal is for the site to be faster, easier to utilize, and more user-friendly and aesthetically appealing. The website showcases newly updated features to better provide information on Local Government, City Services, Community, and Business.

“After months of preparation, we are excited to launch the new city website,” stated Tourism & Marketing Director Kellye Murphy, who spearheaded the project. “The design is a fresh, modern update while still complying to government standards. Our goal was to make it easy to navigate. We all look for information differently on a website so we wanted to provide global navigation options for everyone. We will continue to make improvements to our online processes and how we share information to our community and visitors.”

The website offers a wide variety of new features that aid easier use, as well as allow City Projects and Current News more accessible to the public. Some site features include a ‘How Do I’ and ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ page to provide important information to citizens in a time-effective manner based on their needs. The website also highlights ‘Community’ and ‘Business’ to allow citizens to access numerous resources for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Emergency Services, Transportation, Facilities, and much more; as well as showcase a variety of helpful business resources.

Mayor Chaz Molder stated, “I am so pleased with the rollout of our new and improved city website. A website creates a first impression, which we only have one opportunity to get right.” Molder went on to say, “This website provides a first impression for Columbia that shows off our community's charm and sophistication in a very positive way. Equally as important, this site is user-friendly and will allow our residents to better utilize city services. I am grateful to everyone at City Hall who has been involved in this important project.”

The City is actively working to make more services available online and this new website provides the foundation to do just that. This includes interactive forms, applications, and online payment options that will be implemented over time.
