Columbia Police Department Presented Awards from ESGR

The City would like to congratulate Columbia Police Department, Tennessee's Chief Jeremy Alsup for being awarded the 2022 ESGR Patriotic Employer Award from the Department of Defense's Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve. Chief Alsup was nominated by Ryan Webb, 300th MP Brigade, TN Army Reserve. Detective Webb has been deployed with the 300th MP Brigade since March 2021. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off before and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed. Patriot Awards are awarded to individual supervisors, not to an entire staff or organization as a whole.

In addition to the Patriotic Employer Award, the Columbia Police Department was awarded the Pro Patria Award. ESGR’s Pro Patria Award is presented annually by each ESGR State Committee to one small, one large, and one public sector employer in their state or territory. Recipients have demonstrated the greatest support to Guard and Reserve employees through their leadership and practices, including adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve. This is the highest level award that may be bestowed by an ESGR State Committee.
