The Mayor's Office

Mayor Chaz Molder Welcomes You to Columbia, Tennessee.

Dear Columbia Resident, Visitor, and Friend:

Welcome to the City of Columbia's virtual front door - our website. Here you can find important information about city government services, recreational opportunities, and tourism information, just to name a few. Additionally, you will find contact information for all of our city departments and resources to assist you as you navigate through our community as a resident, community partner, and friend.

The City of Columbia is a growing, thriving community. We have an understanding and appreciation of our past, with an ever-watchful eye toward the future. We are the home-place of President James K. Polk, home to the state's first community college, corporate headquarters for the Tennessee Farm Bureau, and known as the Mule Capital of the World thanks to the increasingly popular and ever-famous Mule Day, held on the first weekend of April each year.

Columbia's population is 40,000 plus, and we are the county seat of Maury County, a county whose population now exceeds 100,000 residents. Located on the banks of the Duck River, a river referred to as the most bio-diverse river in the world, Columbia is located within the Nashville Metro Statistical Area region, on the south end of the I-65 corridor, and serves as a hub city for the more rural southern middle Tennessee region. Simply put, we are accessible to the big city amenities and resources, but we are removed from the hustle and bustle of the big city life. The perfect blend!

I often say that there's never been a better time to be the Mayor of Columbia, Tennessee, and I think it can also be said that there's never been a better time to live, work, and play in Columbia. I am proud to be your Mayor and we are working hard each and every day to make you proud to call this place home.

I encourage you to explore this website and learn more about our community. And, if I can ever be of any assistance please feel free to contact my office. An email is great. A call works just fine. And, an in-person visit is best of all.

For Columbia,
Chaz
