The Columbia City Council identified a new downtown and/or centrally located hotel as a 2022-2023 strategic planning objective so the City of Columbia retained the services of Core Distinction Group, a third-party hotel development consultant, to perform a hotel market feasibility study for the downtown area. The report shows the property segment recommended for the potential development of a hotel is an Upper Midscale to Upscale hotel and the property size recommendation of a newly developed hotel was researched to be between 90-100 guestrooms in this report.
